Shambhala Mountain Center

The Sakyong Foundation has made grants totaling over $850,000 to support the growth and development of Shambhala Mountain Center, a not-for-profit mountain valley retreat located on 600-acres in northern Colorado. Each year the Center offers hundreds of programs and events on meditation, yoga and other contemplative disciplines in an environment ideal for the cultivation of personal qualities beneficial in daily life and service to others.

This center is also home to The Great Stupa of Dharmakaya, the largest and most elaborate example of Buddhist sacred architecture in North America. Stupas have been built for thousands of years wherever Buddhism has been practiced, as symbols of wisdom, compassion and enlightenment – the values at the heart of the Buddhist tradition. The Great Stupa reaches 108-feet and is open to visitors daily.

Shambhala Mountain Center is affiliated with Shambhala International, a global network of more than 170 meditation and retreat centers around the world.
